The Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity are pledging $1.3 million to Morehouse College in honor of our Psi Chapter brother, President Dr. F. Dubois Bowman
The Brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity are pledging $1.3 million to Morehouse College in honor of our Psi Chapter brother, President Dr. F. Dubois Bowman
This pledge builds on our commitment that began 15 years ago with the establishment of the Psi Chapter Endowed Scholarship Fund, now valued at nearly $1 million. Alongside our recently created Omega Family of Endowed Funds at Morehouse—which includes the Psi Chapter Endowment and other funds established by Omega Brothers—our combined endowments currently total approximately $1.6 million.
This new $1.3 million pledge consists of three separate commitments:
-
1. President’s Unrestricted Current Use Fund – Goal: $111,000
Purpose: To provide the President with flexible funds to be used at his discretion.
Timeline: Our goal is to fully fund this pledge within 30 days to offer immediate support for his presidency.
-
2. The Bowman, Massey, Mays & Archer Presidential Scholarship Endowment – Goal: $200,000
Purpose: This endowment will fund an annual scholarship for a Morehouse student, named in honor of the four Morehouse Presidents who were Omega Men: Presidents Bowman, Massey, Mays, and Archer.
Impact: A fully endowed fund will initially provide approximately $11,000 per year in perpetuity, growing over time with additional contributions.
-
3. Campus of the Future Maintenance Endowment – Goal: $1,000,000
Purpose: To address the critical challenge of deferred maintenance on campus buildings and infrastructure—a key but often overlooked factor in maintaining a thriving learning environment.
Impact: At a 5.5% annual spending rate, a $1 million endowment would provide $55,000 per year, ensuring lasting support for campus upkeep.
We invite you to invest in the option that resonates most with you or in multiple funds to help us reach these historic goals. Our collective effort will demonstrate unwavering support for Morehouse College, and we encourage our friends, families, fellow Omega Brothers, Divine Nine organizations, and Morehouse alumni to join us in this journey.
Our legacy is clear: creating permanent, growing sources of funding for Morehouse students and the campus community. For example, our Psi Chapter Endowed Scholarship Fund, endowed with $100,000 in 2011, provided $1,250 to each of the first four scholars in 2013; last year, each received $7,512—a testament to the power of endowment growth.
We also celebrate our Divine Nine brothers and sisters who answered the call after our initial endowment in 2011. Congratulations to the Alphas, Kappas, AKAs, and Deltas for your leadership and commitment to supporting Spelhouse.
Brothers and Friends let’s continue our legacy of building lasting resources for Morehouse.
Long Live Morehouse
Long Live Omega
Long Live Psi Chapter
